Use home page or put categories on my home page

Post by Delpfine » Sat Jul 13, 2013 10:07 am

I originally planned to use AlegroCart as a shop on my existing website. I've done that, but it's still not quite ready for prime time. Recently I got feedback that I should use my existing home page differently. That I should start the shop on my home page. I was thinking I could put categories on my existing home page or use the AlegroCart home page. However, with all the changes that I've made, the AlegroCart home page isn't working. It's enabled, but I changed something somewhere so that it doesn't show up. I'm not sure what to do. Can I add categories to my already existing home page? Or, do I need to get the AlegroCart home page module working? Thanks.

In the template manager, I have Center Content set to Content. What file controls "Content"?

I found it. It's the welcome message and description under settings in the home page module.

Content is whatever is produced by the main controller(page) you are calling, in this case the home page. The only real display the home page has is the welcome that you have already found.
It's looking very nice.

I would like to get http://www.delpfinewelchdesigns.com/sho ... oller=home used (and found) as my home page, but with http://www.delpfinewelchdesigns.com. In admin /settings, Use URL Alias is grayed out. So, I tried adding redirects in the control panel of my server for .htaccess. That didn't work. I read all the posts about URL alias, did the .htaccess test in my shop directory. That .htaccess is working. Not sure what to do next.

If you go to Configuration/URL Alias in admin, are the URL aliases there? So, was SEO generated?

If you mean the aliases that I added from the server control panel, then no.

In admin/configuration/url alias click the Generate SEO button at the top of the page.
