Add to Cart not working

When I click "Add to Cart" I get a ghost of the product image and the product is not added to the cart. I replaced the product.tpl file with the original to see if the changes that I made caused the problem. But, the problem is still there with the original file. Help!

Add a cart where the image flies to.

You don't have the minicart box. Normally the image flies to the minicart.
How have you changed the template? With the template manager?

Which template? I used the template manager initially to set the basic pieces, but I've also been editing the tpl and php where needed.

Have a look at the Alegrocart demo.
In the default setting, there is no cart listed.
Now look at the Home page and in the header, you will see the cart is the last entry.
If you check other pages like the product page, you will see it is moved to the left column.
Whereever you want the addtocart available, you need that minicart as it is part of the process of adding products.
