Good afternoon,

I have an issue with the email which was working fine until today.

when a customer registers and adds a valid email it does not reply to their email but the shop email for instance.

users email mike@gmail.com
sends confirmation to sales@shopemail.com

Its also the same for any purchases or newsletter.

Nothing has changed???

have you any thoughts

Have you checked the spam directories?

Hi Leo,

Yes, nothing there. It is responding to the shop email.

So instead of replying to the customer it is sending a mail to the shop.

the shop email is sales@handofdimes.com
the customer registers their email so:- mike@gmail.com
the thank you for registering email is sent to sales@handofdimes.com

or if i send an email to a customer via the admin email function it sends it to sales@handofdimes.com and not the customer??

any thoughts

regards

mike

Check with your host if anything in the mail server has changed.
Sending mail from your shop to your shop is different in the mail server than sending to a customer. Requires different relay rules.

thanks for the reply,
I will ask the question.

however I have checked my mail on my hosts mail and all the mails are there. so the thank you for regestering mail is there but addressed to the shop.

also the news letter mail is there with the news letter.

also the thank you for your purchase email addressed to the shop

along with the order confirmation mail stating that their payment has been approved and the item is ready for download.

if i send a mail from my outlook to sales@handofdimes i get the auto replier and the forwarder to my mail which i sent it from.

It all seems a bit strange.

mike

Is smtp authentication needed to send mails from that domain?

just an update this morning:-

The newsletter is working.

but

The new customer registration email is not
The confirmation email for new purchase is not
The confirmation that order completed is not working
PayPal does not recognize the email address (shop owner) M.williams%40btinternet.com
should be M.williams@btinternet.com

paypal could not authenticate the account because of the email address.

i placed a test product on the shop then registered as a new customer, attempted to buy the test product and the above problems were observed.

I checked the mail at my web host and there were no mails in the inbox there should have been confirmation emails etc. the only mail was the newsletter??? this was supposed to be sent to the customer.
